Series Xi will be another online issue, with more or less of what you'd expect from Sleeping Fish (see archives below) with a current emphasis on autopoietics. What is, self-defining, self-contained, self-organizing and/or self-explanatory art & texts. Or (taking a cue from Sidebrow) works that build on or feed off of the current Sleeping Fish/Calamari canonical rhizome. In addition to self-generating language/information structures, Sleeping Fish is also interested in self-destructing art & text. For example, suicide notes, weathered street art or to-be-aged artifacts not for this generation but for unknown subsequent discoverers. That said, there's no such thing as a perfect vacuum nor freedom from hypocrisy, so if anything consider this to be a creative prompt. Most people don't pay attention to guidelines anyway. Sleeping Fish also likes surprises, misfits & things that break rules or that guide us in new directions. Collaborations, collages, scientific abstracts, philosophical treatises, translations, short films, music, scores, laundered lists, hybrids, hyper-language, code, codices, creative nonfiction, found objects & anonymous works are encouraged. Poetry, story-telling, unscientific realism & non-narrative works are discouraged. All the other usual submission etiquette applies (i.e. unconventional file-types, large files or submissions not labeled as such or that don't express sincerity & common decency will simply be deleted). Both you & i are doing this for the love, or hell, of it. Please email submissions to this address. |
